Palm Sunday at St. Ann

Welcome to all. On this day, the Church celebrates Christ's entrance into Jerusalem to accomplish the Pascal Mystery of his death and resurrection. According, the memorial of this event is included in every Mass, with the procession or the solmn entrance before the principal Mass, with the simple entrance before the other Masses.

Dear friends in Christ, for five weeks of Lent we have been preparing, by works of charity and self-sacrifice, for the celebration of Our Lord's paschal mystery. Today, we come together to begin the solemn celebration in union with the whole Church throughout the world. Christ entered in triumph into his own city, to complete the work as our Messiah: to suffer, to die, and to rise again. Let us remember with devotion this entry which began his saving work and follow him with a lively faith. United with him in his suffering on the cross, may we share his resurrection and new life.

Let us pray Almight God, we pray you bless these branches and make them holy. Tolday, we joyfully acclaim Jesus our Messiah and King. May we reach one day the happiness of the new and everlasting Jerusalem by faithfully following him who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

As the crowd drew near Jerusalem, enter Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent off two disciples with the instruction: "Go into the village straigh ahead of you and you will immediately find an ass tethered and her colt with her. Untie them and lead them back to me. It anyone says a word to you, say, 'The Master needs them.' Then he will let them go at once." This came about to fulfill what was said through the prophet, "Tell the daughter of Zion, Your King comes to you with out display, astride an ass, astrice a colt, the foal of a beat or burden".

The children of Jerusalem welcomed Christ the King. They carried olive branches and loudly praised the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. They spread their cloaks before him and loudly praised the Lord: Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
