Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is CatholicServices.NET?A. CatholicServices.NET is an electronic community of Catholic schools, parishes and people. Using the Internet as a means of sending and receiving words and images, CatholicServices.NET brings into being an interactive community based on common values and goals. It provides access to hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals. As in a real community, everyone who wishes to participate is included. Every school. Every parish. Free.
Q. How does my school or parish join CatholicServices.NET?
A. You don’t. Every school and every parish is already part of it. Automatically. You can visit CatholicServices.NET on the World Wide Web at www.CatholicServices.NET today. Look for your school or parish under the appropriate listing, click on its name and you’re there!
Q. Is CatholicServices.NET just a list of names and addresses?
A. No. CatholicServices.NET allows each school and parish to design, create, publish and change information, features and commentary whenever they want. Twenty-four hours a day. 365 days a year. Free. To do this, CatholicServices.NET’s unique publishing capability uses a special interactive tool, accessible on the Internet. If you can type, you can learn how to use it in a few minutes. If you can’t type, it might take a little longer.
CatholicServices.net (CatholicNET), from a general technology standpoint, accomplishes this using two main features:
- main webpages put up via the CatholicNET ICs and
- additional webpages for your sites put us via the CSNmail messaging system - everyone is invited to participate and help.
Q. What’s the catch? How much does this cost?
A. Nothing. Zero. Zip. The listing is free. The website is free. The design tools are free. The changes are free. Okay, there’s one catch. You have to be connected to the Internet, and you have to have a modern Internet browser. If you need an Internet dial-up account, there are many good service providers. Any one of them will do. CatholicServices.NET will provide a dial-up Internet account and browser for $20 a month. We think our service is pretty good.
