His Holiness Pope John Paul Il: On a recent visit, our Holy Father offered many powerful and challenging messages to Catholics in the United States. Speaking with compelling urgency on themes of human life and dignity, poor families and children, and the need for us to remain compassionate, generous, and concerned for others, he asked:  "Is present-day America becoming less sensitive, less caring toward the poor, the weak, the needy? It must not!"
